The "Transalpine development"
In 1785, Clemens Maria Hofbauer of Moravia and his friend Thaddeus Hübl, whom he had met in Vienna, joined the Redemptorists in Rome. In 1786 Hofbauer and Hübl went to Warsaw, Poland where the papal nuncio gave them responsibility for the parish of Saint Benno in the New Town.

Saint Alphonsus (who founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, known as the Redemptorists, in November 1732) was still alive when the transalpine development of the CSsR started. He died in 1787.
